Ensuring that you set up your account page can be the difference between getting followers and growing your page and quite simply not.  

Showing up and putting your best foot forward is always important. Especially when it comes to social media.  You want to ensure that you are looking good to someone in 5 seconds or less. A main rule is to ensure that you are not just following anyone. It clusters your feed and doesn't make you be able to effectively engage with your followers. 

TikTok is a social media platform that places an emphasis on everyone engaging. Realistically you will only engage with things that you like or find commonality with. When starting out you may have a following/ follower count that is off but you want to go back and unfollow anyone that has dirty deleted you. Dirty delete is when people follow you and then they unfollow you. 

Choose a name that will not cause too much controversy (unless you want that kind of energy). As you are entering rooms you will find that hosts tend to shy away from saying names that are considered controversial. Your name should be in alignment with the brand that you are wanting to build. Your username should also be a name that you make sure to choose properly too.

Bio: Your Bio is a quick synopsis of who you are and your purpose for being on TikTok. This Bio is going to follow you throughout these TikTok streets. Many people won't even interact with you without having a Bio. A Bio distinguishes you apart from the scam pages. Many people want to interact with like minded individuals or people who have similar skills or interests.

Pronoun: This section is very simple to understand. What are the pronouns that you want to be associated with?

Links: Do you have external things that you are doing? Did you come to TikTok to network so that you can refer others to those outside projects?

School: For those who have a supportive alma mater you may want to include your school or any organizations in your profile. Again people will follow those they feel they have things in common with. 

Taking all of these things into consideration it can help propel you into a good standing when you are strolling the TikTok streets.
